Gzip & Brotli

Universal CDN supports Gzip and Brotli compression algorithms. Our edge servers compress specific types of files on-the-fly.

We apply Gzip and Brotli compression to some types of content. The list of the currently supported file types is outlined below:

text/plain
text/css
application/x-javascript
application/javascript
text/javascript
image/svg+xml
application/x-font-ttf
application/x-ttf
application/mpf
application/dash+xml
application/vnd.apple.mpegurl
application/x-mpegURL

We deliver content on-demand either Gzip compressed,  Brotli compressed, or not compressed based on the passed request headers. The compressed content will be delivered only to the browsers that advertise their capability of handling such compressed assets.

IMPORTANT!
The Firefox and Chrome web browsers support Brotli compression only when the request is sent over HTTPS.
